Mission Statement:

Anderson Lights of Hope is a non-profit volunteer agency which through active fundraising and educational programs will provide funding to Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee County non-profit organizations that offer special needs services, physical, occupational and speech therapy services for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities.

Text Box: SPONSORS - Our sponsorships begin at $25 and go up to $600.00 this year. Families or businesses can afford to have their name in front of a display, listed on the program and even mentioned on the Park Radio Station 89.7 FM.

Anderson Lights of Hope even allows you the chance to purchase a display from our large selection to be your contribution to the Lights of Hope Displays, or just sponsor one of our existing displays. New displays start at $2,500 and go up.

In-kind donations are very special to us and as stores and businesses trade out for new holiday decorations we always hope they will keep us in mind before tossing the old away. We have a wonderful repair and beautification team that works year round on the displays.

We are always in need of 100 feet and 150 feet of white, red, green and blue mini lights, 12 and 14 gauge drop cords in 50 and 100 foot lengths. Rolls of white and black electrical tape are also needed for repairs. If your company has C7 or C9 light bulbs we are always looking for a supply since it takes about 5,000 replacements every 2 weeks of operation.

For a complete list of donated items needed please check our Light Display or Loan Closet Pages.

VOLUNTEERS - Sometimes it seems that everyone is asking you for money; people on the phone, people knocking on your door, your friends, your kids, and agencies that you have helped in the past.  The problem is, times are hard and you don’t have enough money to pay your bills, much less make a donation.  But there is something you can do to alleviate all that guilt and at the same time help all of these people out.  Volunteer!

Volunteering can be done in a number of ways.  You can offer to make phone calls, organize inventory, help organize and work at the event.  Although money is always a necessary part of any non profit agency’s agenda, it is certainly not the only need.  Without Volunteers, who would give out the items in the Soup Kitchen, cook the food at a benefit and serve it, or decorate and operate the various charity dinners and bake sales?  Volunteers are necessary to provide free labor and answer questions regarding the charity and what needs are benefiting from the proceeds.

If you are tired of saying no because you are short on funds, start volunteering your time and reap the great rewards of knowing you have done your part to help others in need.  It is important to choose a cause that has meaning to you, that way your heart will be in your work.  You don’t even have to commit to a certain number of hours; just let the agency know when you are available and what you are capable of helping with.  Then you can feel good about helping others in need without breaking the bank.

Without the wonderful volunteers this project would not happen. The amount of time and physical labor that goes into the event is beyond what most would say is worth it. But ask any of the volunteers at Lights of Hope and worth it. They look forward to working setting up, running the show and taking down each year. Some call as early as May to make sure they are on the list.

We do have our year-round volunteers and plan on seeking a few more.  We are needing a Loan Closet Director, two electrical members, and with our two computer students soon graduating college, we are looking for new computer technicians. This will increase our volunteer staff and not overload those that have been so wonderful over the years. We need all of our volunteers and do not want to wear them out.

If you would like to volunteer you can write to us at Anderson Lights of Hope, PO Box 1413 Anderson, SC 29622 or call (864) 965-9045  for more information.
